Confidentiality is an important part of helping a teenager feel safe enough to engage honestly in therapy.

I will explain clearly at the beginning of therapy how confidentiality works and what information may need to be shared with a parent or caregiver.

Where possible, young people are given privacy and encouraged to take ownership of their therapeutic journey. However, if there is a significant concern about their safety or the safety of someone else, appropriate action may need to be taken. This will always be handled as openly and sensitively as possible.
